Foothills Festivals

Communities like Spruce Pine, Little Switzerland, Linville, Morganton, and Lake James are charming mountain communities that are nestled in one of the most pristine regions of the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Here, elevations rise and fall and you can enjoy numerous outdoor activities and lots of peace and quiet as these areas are usually found tucked away from it all. This region is known for its unique Appalachian mountain culture which historically has relied and thrived on industries and hobbies such as mining, arts and crafts, and bluegrass music. Explore more about Spruce Pine, Linville NC, Little Switzerland North Carolina, and Morganton, and you will find out what makes these small towns and communities so special. NC Gem and Mineral Festival

The North Carolina Gem and Mineral Festival is one of the longest running NC Festivals that takes place in the state. Each year, this event takes place in Spruce Pine NC, the Gemstone Capital of the World, and since its inception, numerous crafters, gemologist, jewelers, and others have descended upon this sleepy mountain town to showcase some of their best finds and new technology. Visitors can attend the show and walk through the different tables and exhibits. The festival always takes place at the end of July/beginning of August.
